What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine) is an endogenously produced copper binding tripeptide which is located in human plasma, urine and saliva, whose concentration is declining with aging. GHK-Cu has an extraordinary potential to act as a regenerating agent, antiinflammatory and antioxidant agent and is also able to stimulate collagen production, repair the barrier function of the skin, accelerate wound healing and stimulate hair growth.
- Anti-Aging & Skin Health: Skin care applications of GHK-Cu are common in cosmetic treatments for wrinkle reduction, skin firming, improving skin elasticity, and anti-aging due to photodamage.
- Healing & Regeneration:The GHK-Cu is released after an injury to allow the body to perform the repair process, including promoting new tissue formation, increasing blood vessels, and decreasing inflammation.
-
Hair Growth: GHK-Cu is also known to be involved with stimulating hair follicles, thereby stimulating hair growth, and it has been shown to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase which reduces DHT.
-
Mechanism: GHK-Cu functions as a signaling molecule that will regulate the transcription of genes, thus influencing DNA repair and cellular health.
-
Natural Decline: GHK-Cu levels decline with age (from approximately 200 ng/ml at 20 years of age to approximately 80 ng/ml at 60 years of age) and this decrease in level corresponds to a decrease in the body's ability to perform repair processes.
